Gilroy Garlic Festival
Last weekend I ventured to the town of Gilroy, CA for their annual garlic festival. I had never been to such festival but had heard from others who have, that this festival was a must for food lovers.
The drive was long and hot! When I looked up directions on the website for the festival, the website told me that all roads in Gilroy led to the festival. True enough they did. We were directed to a big open field. Shuttle buses drove us to the festival which was nearby.
Once inside (the outdoor arena where it was held), the place was packed! So many people walking about, that for a newbie to this thing was a bit too much to handled. Once we found a map with the layout of the festival, things went much more smoothly. There were lots of food booths as well as your typical street fair vendor booths. I tired as many garlic infused food as I could handled. My favorite was the garlic mussels.
I didn’t stay for too long because it was so hot and no matter how much water or standing in the shade I did, I felt so uncomfortable and just couldn’t cool down. Overall I had a good time, but not sure if I would go again. The drive plus the heat was a little too much.
